The Bristol La Civetta competition returns

We were delighted that so many young Italophiles took part in our competition to celebrate Italy and all things Italian last year. The winning entries from 2024 have been published in the December issue of La Civetta, which is available to view here:

We are running the competition again this year. To take part, please choose one of the following categories:
  1. Write a short story or a poem inspired by any aspect of Italy or Italian culture (maximum 300 words)
  2. Write a review of an article which has featured in a previous issue of La Civetta (maximum 300 words)
  3. Write a review of a previous issue of La Civetta magazine (maximum 300 words)
  4. Draw a picture inspired by any aspect of Italy or Italian culture using a medium of your choice.
Writing may be in Italian or English.

To enter:

  • Schools should submit entries on behalf of students
  • written submissions should be submitted in a Word docx file
  • images should be scanned in good quality JPG, PNG or PDF files
  • all entries should include a name of the author/artist, a title for the work submitted, and level of Italian studied (e.g. GCSE/A-level/IB)
  • attachments should be emailed to Rhiannon Daniels (Head of Italian at University of Bristol) [email protected] with the subject line: La Civetta competition
Individuals may submit more than one entry

Deadline for submissions: 31 January 2025

A panel of judges will be appointed by the editorial team of La Civetta. Winning entries will be published in La Civetta.
