The exhibition illustrates the often-overlooked contributions of women working behind the scenes of post-war Italian cinema through rare archival photographs and biographies.

Produced in collaboration with Cineteca di Bologna, the exhibition is  an output of the Arts and Humanities Research Council project 'Women in Italian Film Production: Industrial Histories and Gendered Labour, 1945-1985'.

The launch event will include:

• an introduction to the exhibition by Stephen Gundle of the University of Warwick and Michela Zegna of the Cineteca di Bologna,
• screenings of interview extracts with women from the Italian film industry,
• a panel discussion with contemporary Italian female filmmakers and industry professionals,
• followed by complimentary Zonin Prosecco.

After the launch, the exhibition will be open to the public free of charge during the opening hours of the cinema from 3–17 July 2026.
A special screening of Visconti's epic adaptation of The Leopard will also take place on Friday 10 July at 19.30 at Regent Street Cinema. The screening will be followed by a discussion about the film's screenwriter Suso Cecchi D’Amico with Stephen Gundle and Visconti scholar Rossana Capitano.

]]>Thu, 21 May 2026 15:24:44 GMThttps://www.teachitalian.co.uk/blog/italian-language-training-and-refresher-course-for-teachers-on-lake-garda-this-summerThe course, which will take place at the University branch of Palazzo Feltrinelli in Gargnano (BS), on lake Garda, is addressed to all Italian L2/foreign language teachers working in Italy or abroad at Universities, Italian Cultural Institutes or in other public and/or private bodies.
The course can be acknowledged as Erasmus+ training week.

With this course, the SLAM Centre wishes to contribute towards meeting the requirements of the academic community regarding the teaching and learning of the Italian language for foreigners. More specifically, the refresher course for teachers aims to update the foreign language teaching skills and provide new strategies for the development of the linguistic skills of learners of various contexts, all of this with a theoretical-practical approach.

The course fee varies depending on the type of accommodation selected (RATE A: € 897 – single room with private en-suite bathroom / RATE B: € 797 – single room with private external bathroom / RATE C: € 692 – shared double room with private en-suite bathroom) which covers:

• 25-hour training and refresher course and all related teaching materials;
• Six nights of accommodation at the university residences of Palazzo Feltrinelli and/or Casa Bertolini, with full board, from Sunday, 30 August to Saturday, 5 September 2026;
• A cultural visit currently being defined;
  
• Accident and third-party liability insurance;
• Course merchandise.

Teachers who wish to apply will have to submit their application by 3rd June 2026 at 12 noon (Italian time).
After the deadline, the SLAM Centre will evaluate the applications prioritising teachers who work abroad and will establish the ranking of the eligible candidates, publishing it by the middle of June 2026. The selected applicants must confirm their participation by the end of June 2026 by paying the registration fee.

]]>Wed, 20 May 2026 10:23:23 GMThttps://www.teachitalian.co.uk/blog/may-20th-2026Following the immensely successful launch, in September 2025, of a new online version of our long-established Certificate of Continuing Education (CCEd) in Italian, the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, is now accepting for 2026-27:

• applications for places in a new first-year cohort;
• expressions of interest, from suitably qualified candidates, in direct entry to second year.

The part-time and fully online CCEd programme is essentially a degree ‘bolt-on’, comprising the core modules studied by full-time undergraduate students in Years 1-3. Completion of Years 1-2 alone is sufficient in terms of credits for practising secondary teachers of other languages in Scotland to provisionally register in Italian, while the first online cohort also includes students from elsewhere in the UK.
